Level Editor

The Maven engine (for lack of a better name) now has a a companion level editor. This is a shot of what development might look like (i.e. this isn't actually a real level setup, but it does demonstrate the editor). Our goal is to put out a new demo soon; so be on the look-out for some of these familiar sights!

Engine Update

For those of you who are not aware, Maven runs on a custom JavaScript engine.

So, there is good news, and there is bad news.

The good news is that some major updates have been made to improve the engine over the past few weeks. (Yay!)
...
The bad news is that the nothing in Maven currently runs at full function because of the bugs the updates introduced...

We got our first awesome piece of music from Michael Shawn Carbaugh the Second. Check it out!

Tents

Did you hear about the work Freedan Studios has been doing? It's pretty in-tents.

Battle It Out

Right now I'm looking at some numbers for Maven's battle system. I'm crunching out a bunch of random numbers on the left and calculating various amounts of damage on the right. The last four columns were poorly labeled and are as follows: average end health (that is health after average damage), max decrease end health, percentage (of max health) decrease in health from average damage, and percentage decrease in health from maximum damage. This isn't final, but it's an update.

More Planning

We might have two new team members on board for Maven. That's an answer to prayer. One of the two being a story-er, I have been working to compile a well organized system of all notes on Maven's story-line. In addition to the implementation of the story through JourNotes, I also made a hover-over-the-place-and-see-about-it interactive map to solidify a spatial awareness of the game. Although I cannot show any of the JourNotes stuff (since it is the story), I can show a little bit of the interactive map (unfortunately, I don't have a demo version with story content edited out available).
N.B. These are graphics from RPG Maker used for planning purposes, not the actual game graphics.

Partnering

We are praying about expanding our development team for Maven. If you or someone you know would be interested in joining the team, please contact us. We would also appreciate your prayer in the matter.

On the graphical side of things, Freedan Studios has whipped up this fancy-shmancy artwork.

Week 3

Amazingly, we have a third consecutive weekly post!

This past week has been a little bit of a conglomerate of messing around with Game Character Hub's character generator, trying to decide on a method of attack animations, and as always some good old-fashioned brainstorming (primarily in regards to early story-boarding).

That's about it for this week, but check back again next week!
